July 2008
Hello all!
July is upon us and I hope the flooding has not directly affected anyone.
Laura and I took a drive this past weekend, (July 6), and the damage is
extensive on both sides of the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. Hwy 79 was
still covered by water north of Elsberry, MO and Hwy.100 on the Illinois side
was closed just south of Hardin, IL to somewhere past Grafton, IL. The
water had gone down what looked to be about 6 to 8 feet in most places by the
water line on the trees.
The Wentzville Rod Run was June 6th. There were 6 or so members from our
club there that I saw. It looked to be around 150 cars or so in attendance
in the cruise and the weather turned out good. There was rain all around
the area that night but it stayed dry in Wentzville for the cruise.
June 29th was our annual picnic with the Kansas City Camaro Club. We left
Wright City at just after 10:00 A.M. in very cool and cloudy conditions for
Columbia, MO. We encountered a quick rain shower on the way but it only
lasted a few miles. Not really enough to get the cars dirty. Our
club had 18 Camaros in attendance and K.C. had 12 so we brought home the
traveling trophy from the event. I counted about 45 total people from our
club there in total. The food was good and thanks to the cooks!
Our next big club event is the Supercar Reunion, Aug. 28-30. We will be
outside in the parking lot with the cruise in show on Saturday, Aug. 30.
We discuss this in detail at the July meeting. Chuck Connoyer has flyers
available to pass out and post.
That's about it for now. Hope to see you all at the meeting.
